Terms of Service

This page is maintained by the Yap team to describe the terms that apply when you use Yap ("the service"). Yap is currently in private pilot. By requesting access, signing in, or using the service, you agree to these terms.

1. Who can use Yap

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to use Yap. Access is invite- and approval-based during the pilot; we may decline or revoke access at our discretion.

2. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your password safe and for activity that happens under your account. Do not share your credentials. Contact us if you think your account has been compromised.

3. Acceptable use

Don't use Yap to harass, threaten, or harm other people; to send spam or malware; to infringe copyright; or to break the law. We may remove content or suspend accounts that violate these rules.

4. Your content

You keep ownership of the messages, posts, and images you create on Yap. You grant us a limited license to store, display, and process that content so we can operate the service (including sending it to language-learning AI models to generate translations, corrections, and quizzes).

5. AI-generated content

Yap uses AI models to mix, translate, correct, and generate quiz content. AI output can be wrong, and Yap is a learning tool, not a certified translator. Don't rely on it for medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

6. Service availability

Yap is provided "as is" during the pilot. We may change, pause, or discontinue features at any time. We do our best to keep the service running but do not guarantee uptime.

7. Termination

You can stop using Yap and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms or if we discontinue the service.

8. Liability

To the extent allowed by law, Yap and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as Yap evolves. If we make material changes, we'll try to let you know in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the new terms.
